Description

Dian Hong (滇紅, meaning Yunnan Red) refers to those premium quality black teas that originate from Yunnan, China. While the soft sweetness is the consequence of the slightly oxidized golden buds, the lower, darker leaves give strength and body to the tea.

Among the fragrances of the dry leaves one might explore the scent of an old piece of leather, and by drinking the tea we have the impression of standing next to a freshly cut log or next to a freshly made wine barrel. Apart from being rustic, the tea has honey-like notes as well. Gushu Dian Hong can be the favorite of those who prefer Assam teas because it does not get bitter, not even after brewing for a minute.

Due to the ancient trees (古树, gushu) it has an intense chaqi (茶氣, tea energy) that, combined with decent caffeine-content, results in a characteristic, energizing tea. With its warming effect it is a perfect tea for colder days.
