The Mid-Autumn Festival 中秋節, Vietnamese: tết Trung Thu, is the second biggest festival of the Year in some Asian countries.
The festival is held on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Lunar calendar (this year the 29th of September).
It is said, that the Moon appears to be the biggest and roundest at this time of the year, shining down on everyone. It is a celebration that brings friends and families together. People spend the evening in parks with friends and family, watching the Moon.
Traditionally, lanterns signified the wish for the sun’s light and warmth to return after Winter.

Moon cakes are regarded as an indispensable delicacy, as it also symbolizes the full Moon. Dense and rich, with intense velvety-smooth fillings, various red, or mungo bean-based fillings. The most popular ones at our place are black sesame seed, taro root, tamarind and coconut. The most Asian: dried fruits, nuts, and meat together.
Being Zhao Zhou tea’s signature food, all through the year we have them in our teashop and lab, but for the Full Moon Festival, we have a wider selection. Also for takeaway, to celebrate at home.
