The trees are surrounded by a truly diverse biodiversity. Orchids or herbs growing on trees can often be found on their trunks. The families of each mountain village have their own trees to care for (the land is owned by the Chinese state). The environment of the trees is not even approached with any kind of chemicals, they are basically weeded with a sickle and a hoe, and otherwise the trees are left to grow naturally. Each family decides which harvest and picking dates they choose. Some people pick the leaves only once a year, in spring, others several times, in summer and autumn. The more skilled also process the tea leaves, and others sell the fresh leaves.

The pictures were taken a few years ago, bathed in sunlight at various locations on one of our trips to southern China in the Puer region. We can drink tea from the leaves of these trees even in Budapest and recall our experiences.
