Chasen, a bamboo whisk is an indispensable accessories for a proper-made matcha. The whisk is traditionally hand carved out of a single piece of bamboo. The number of the prongs indicates the softness and delicate foam, the higher the number, the softer the foam. Usually the 120 is the most precise chasen.
The bamboo is grwoing for 3-5 years, harvested in forest then dry in air over 1 year.
The two chasens are made of Kanetake (金竹), or golden bamboo and Shichiku (紫竹), purple bamboo. Made in China.
Always soak it in warm water before you use it for making matcha. The prongs should be soft and wet to arrive to the best result,
also not to break them.
To clean, only use warm water, without any chemicals.
