A true rarity. The opportunity to harvest these ancient trees is rare and almost unrepeatable. Although we usually only say '600+ years' for such large trees without knowing the exact age, here we can safely say '1000+ years'. The leaves were harvested in 2006 from really old and tall trees. We thought they had sold out, but during our trip to Yunnan in 2024, we were fortunate enough to purchase a small batch from our grower.
We recommend this tea to anyone who would like to experience the immense energy of ancient wild puer tea. Its name translates as 'the fortress of a thousand families'. 千家寨
The first few infusions start with smoky notes, which soften in the fourth or fifth infusion. You can enjoy up to 18–20 infusions. For a softer, less smoky flavour, brew at 85 degrees; otherwise, you can go higher, up to 90–95 degrees.
Quantity: 6-8 gramm per 150 ml.
Water temperature: 85-95ºC. From fresh, spring water or filtered water.
Brewing time: 15-20 seconds
Infusions: 10+
