Yiwu is the biggest and most important of the six ancient tea mountains. Ever since the Qing dynasty, there have always been major tea trade; all the old puer cakes (like Songbing) originate from this area too. The Yiwu region is rather characterized by smaller, family-owned tea fields, where the quality of production is much more important than the quantity. The puers made here have a really special world of taste, the front of the sip is smoother and softer with a long-lasting sweet aftertaste. The cha qi (tea energy) of Yiwu teas is also smoother, comes slowly and mildly, but in the end, it gives an uplifting, calm feeling.
This specific tea was harvested from 200+ years old tea trees, typical southern puer with a nice warming effect, which easily can be our favorite with the special Yiwu character.
Steamed gaiwan: sweet smokiness, tobacco
Tastes, feeling: sweet tastes, green pea soup, then pine resin. This tea just rocking us softly, then after a few pourings, we find some nice tartness. At the end of the sips, the returning sweet comes, which is a typical characteristic of quality puers. Stability, and deep power.
Quantity: 5-6 grams per 150 ml
Water temperature: 85-90ºC. From fresh, spring water or filtered water
Brewing time: 5-15…seconds
Infusions: 10-12
