Yeren Shan – Wild Man’s Mountain is located in the northernmost part of Myanmar, a pristine rainforest between the Indian and the Chinese border. In the dense forests and wilderness, there are some savage ethnic groups living in tribes, mainly Kachin and some other ethnic people. These people live in the mountains and do not associate much with modern civilization. Known by locals as “savages.” This volcano covered with dense tropical rain forest is called “Wild Mountain”. The highest point is Ben Paben Mountain, with an elevation of 3,411 meters. Incredible wild life, almost untouched deep jungles.
In the 19th century, the Sino-Myanmar border was delineated. Before that, this tea growing area belonged to the territory of Menghai. Tea species are also originated from the Nannuoshan Mountain area. Nowadays, these ancient tree relics are scattered in the pristine rainforest in northern Myanmar. Gathering the leaves and tea making dates back long, but just being revived in the last few years ago by Chinese tea makers mainly. Still a very remote and abandoned area.
This tea was made by our friends from Yunnan, so the tea has a very clean and elegant stye with a strong chaqi (茶气）.
The tea was dry aged for half a year in Kunming, Yunnan, than in our aging storage room in Budapest at around 65% humidity.
