Description
Tie Guan Yin (鐵觀音, literally Iron Goddess of Mercy) is a well-known green oolong from the Anxi region, Fujian province, China.
According to the legend, once upon a time Guanyin, the Bodhisatva of Compassion appeared to a poor farmer, Wei from Anxi and lead him to a secret treasure which he was to share with his neighbours: a small tea seedling.
Besides the leaves’ characteristic pearl shape, Tie Guan Yin is also notable for its unique flavour: significant sweet greenness, a mild iron taste and a hint of boiled potato. Round, long-lasting tea that fills the whole mouth, then turns into soft aftertaste. Its intens, fresh greenness and high caffeine content nicely vitalise and energise the body.
