Description

Green tea, picked from trees of the first English plantations, 80-100 years old. Characterized by the depth found in puer teas.

Harvested in late May, early June of 2020. The more rustic, old tree leaves were withered longer, so the flavors softened and rounded. Every step of the process is done by hand in small batches, so every detail is recorded carefully. We can happily introduce your tea’s makers: “Rolled by: Nantha, Samanthi, Dilani.”

Tasting notes: The smell of wet leaves and the first infusion brings notes of wax, resin and pine, more like a puer tea. Subtle taste, more of an effect: it opens up the space. For the second infusion (20s) comes some bitterness, like the waxy peel of a plum or pine buds. Propolis and pine taste remain in the mouth.
With further infusions, we feel the gravity of the tea, it warms us and the aftertaste becomes sweet. We ponder philosophically whether we would call it a cheerful tea. We think it is a very honest and meditative tea.
