Jin Zhen – Golden Needle 2016 No.613

Jin Zhen (金針, golden needle) is a black tea made of buds form Fenqing area, Yunnan Province, China. The tiny, spiky buds were plucked in early spring; during the processing from light green they turn to light gold and occasionally brown.

It has a soft, nutty, and honey-like flavour accompanied by a mild scent of steamed acacia wood. Despite being a bud-tea, Jin Zhen is an especially deep tea, with round, caressing, complex flavour. Thanks to the rather low caffeine content it can be consumed even in late-afternoons.

Preparing Instructions:

Quantity: 5-6 grams per 350ml
Water temperature: 95ºC. From fresh, cold spring water or filtered water
Brewing time: 8-10…seconds
Infusions: 5-7
